During this holiday season, coming up with a fun and unique meal to entertain family and friends is a great idea. One meal that will be enjoyed and appreciated by anyone is lobster tail. While you could boil or bake a lobster tail, it is much more enjoyable and delicious if you cook it out on your outdoor grill. There are five tips that should be followed when you are going to grill your lobster tail this holiday season.
One of the best parts about grilling lobster tail is that it does not require a complex recipe in order to make a great meal. In fact, you should focus more on using oils and seasonings that will bring out the natural flavor of the lobster, as opposed to masking it. Before placing the lobster tail on the grill, you will need to gently apply it with a coat of olive oil and salt. Once it is done grilling, you should come up with a unique melted butter blend to apply to the lobster. One great idea would be to mix a blend of tarragon, garlic, black pepper, and hot sauce. This mixture should then be applied generously to the lobster tail once you have taken it off your PGS Grill.
Know the Heat
One of the biggest mistakes that people make with grilling lobster tail is that they do not use the right heat. You should set your outdoor gas grill to a medium heat and allow it to warm up for at least ten minutes before applying the lobster tail to the PGS Grill. A medium heat will ensure the lobster tail is cooked all the way through without it becoming too tough to enjoy.
When you are going to grill lobster tail, it would be best to have them butterfly cut. A lobster tail can be very thick and naturally cold on the side. To ensure you are getting direct heat to all parts of the lobster tail, you should cut the tails directly down the middle through the softer bottom side of the shell. This will give you a perfect cut and allow you to heat all parts of the tail evenly.
Grill to Perfection
Prior to putting the lobster tails onto the grill, you should make sure that they are properly coated in olive oil and salt. You should then place them on the grill with the cut side facing down. One of the best parts about grilling lobster tail is that it will become very clear when it is time for them to be flipped. The remaining shell will slowly turn colors into a bright pink shade. Once this is done, you will need to flip the tails over and then allow them to cook for a few more minutes. Overall, the tails should not be on the grill for more than 10 minutes.
Serve the Lobster Tails
Once the lobster tails are done, you should have them served as quickly as possible. Ideally, you should give each guest a serving of the herb-butter mixture, which they can add generously. Lobster tail often pairs very well with a salad and lemon wedges. If you are looking to serve wine with dinner, a glass of chilled chardonnay will also work very well.
