How to Get Ready for Summertime Grilling With an Outdoor Barbecue Grill From AEI
Don’t miss out on summer-time grilling, take these steps to get your grill ready for that not-so-far-off Summer day.
No matter whether your grill is powered by propane or natural gas, you’ll need to complete an inspection of your grill while paying special attention to the fuel line and gas connections. The first step is to complete a visual inspection. Check for corrosion, dirt, insect infestations, and other signs of storage-related damage. If you’re buying a new grill this year, this part will be easy or unnecessary. But even if that is the case, it’s still a good idea to give it a good visual inspection. Wipe any dust or particles away with a scrub brush. Inspect the fuel lines and connections visually. Look out for cracked or brittle fuel hoses and faulty connections. Look for spiders and/or insect nests that could disrupt any part of the fuel line. Then, as an extra precaution, use soapy water on the fuel lines and connections while the gas is on. If there are any leaks, you should see bubbles form. This indicates that hoses, seals, gaskets, or connections need to be replaced. Check out our article on complete grill safety for more details.
Once you’ve ensured that the lines and connections are in good condition, inspect your burners and cooking grids. Like your fuel lines and connections, you want to make sure they are free of dust, dirt, and the leavings of bugs and other pests. You might want to clean your grill even if it had a cover over it, especially if it has been in storage for a long time. Corrosion is unlikely to be a problem, but if you do find any, it means the part is faulty and needs to be replaced with our OEM grill parts. Fortunately, we have everything you will need to keep your grill running strong for many years.
Next, clear the area around your grill. You want to be sure your grill is standing on a secure, stable, and level surface. Building a solid platform and grill island may be the best way to do this. But the idea is to make sure your grill will not fall over, and that there is nothing for you to trip on while you cook. Summer activities can be very distracting, and with children and pets around – we don’t want to take any unnecessary chances.

PGS Series Grill Facts
- Natural gas grills have no fuel tank to be refilled or exchanged. Connect your natural gas line to your grill as directed, and you’re ready to start cooking.
- Liquid propane grills require a fuel tank that will need to be refilled or exchanged. However, there is the advantage of additional portability. It also makes LP grills easier to store.
- Both LP and NG fuels burn safely, are inexpensive to run, and are readily available. The ultimate deciding factors in selecting a fuel type will be your storage needs, the size and layout of your grilling area, and the availability of natural gas or propane where you live.
- Residential grills come in a wide range of sizes to fit the needs of any family or group. We recommend examining your potential grilling area before you buy. Consider building a grilling deck and examine the various mounting and storage methods available.
- Consider the various mounting options available to fit your needs. Grills can be mounted on a fixed or portable grill cart, on a permanent pedestal, on a fixed grill island, or they can be built into a deck and grilling counter.
- Pedestal mounts take up the least space and work the best with the smaller grills. They are a great option for small grilling areas and are extremely convenient, especially when powered by natural gas.
- Grill carts may be the most versatile mounting option. Every grill we sell can be fitted to a grill cart for portability and versatility.
- Grill islands are prefabricated outdoor mounts made especially for your grill. They are ideal for medium to large grills.
Your new grill can be built into any outdoor countertop. If you have the space available, this option is highly recommended as it offers greater safety and convenience.
