There are many reasons why patio grills are a great idea. For starters, a permanent grill looks great when they are a seamless part of your outdoor patio. They can run on either propane or natural gas, each with their own advantages. They can be built into an outdoor countertop or- if you’re not ready for the commitment of a permanent grill- they can be mounted on a pedestal or grill cart. But most importantly, installing a permanent outdoor grill is a sure way to add value to your property. It makes your living space more enjoyable- and you will notice a big difference in the resale value of your home.

If you’re in the market for a built-in outdoor countertop grill you’ve got a lot of options to consider. Here, we’ll discuss your options and the available gear to help you get the most out of your build.

How to Choose the Right Built-in Barbecue Grill

When it comes to choosing the right grill to permanently install on your patio, it’s important to narrow the options down to the best available options. Many outdoor grills can be installed in a patio countertop. But only a few are worth making into a permanent feature of your home. They are;

Any one of these categories of the outdoor grill will do the job, be reliable, and look good while doing it. The question of which is best is up to you to decide. Now, let’s get into the specifications of each grill type.

A-Series Grills

These grills can run off of either natural gas or liquid propane. That gives you the flexibility to choose a fuel type that works best for you. They feature stainless steel “H” burners and grill racks. A stainless steel bbq grill ensures that rust and corrosion won’t ruin your cooking surface. The lid and basin of A-series grills are made from cast aluminum, which is light and highly resistant to corrosion.

  • Natural Gas or Propane
  • Stainless Steel Cooking and holding surfaces
  • Aluminum Cast Components
  • Foldable Side Shelves
  • 30k to 40k BTU Output

A-series grills have smaller cooking surfaces, which can be a good thing if you have limited patio space, or if you cook for small crowds. They are well suited to either residential or commercial use, and high-quality materials ensure they will last for years.

T-Series Grills

Like A-series grills, the T-series can also run off of either natural gas or liquid propane. They have the same stainless steel “H” burners and grill racks as the A-series, but they are somewhat larger. The lid and basin of T-series grills can be made from cast aluminum or stainless steel, both of which are light and highly resistant to corrosion.

  • Natural Gas or Propane
  • Stainless Steel Cooking and Holding Surfaces
  • Stainless Steel and Aluminum Cast Components
  • Foldable Side Shelves
  • 30k to 67k BTU Output
  • 60 min. Gas Grill Shut-off Timers

The most important difference between T and A-series grills is the T-series are significantly larger. But they are still not as large as a Legacy Series grill. The mid-range size of the T-series makes them well suited for any use setting given sufficient space. Because these grills can be fitted with automatic gas shut-off timers, they are safer and are especially well suited for commercial use in apartment complexes, condos, and any place where people other than the owner will be using them.

With a 60-minute gas shut-off timer, you never have to worry about the gas being left on overnight, creating a hazard. They will always shut-off after a given period unless a user intentionally extends the cooking time. That is a safety feature anyone can appreciate whether you’re a homeowner, property manager, or business owner.

Legacy Series Grills

The Legacy Series stainless steel bbq grills are the flagship of outdoor grills. They are larger, more feature-full, and tend to offer a higher build quality with a more refined fit and finish than A and T series grills. Although, there are very high-quality models available in A and T categories as well.

These grills are larger than the mid-range T-series grills. They can have a 60-minute gas shut-off timer for safety. Stainless steel “H” burners and grill racks come standard. They cook at hotter temperatures and offer several additional features.

Standard Features include;

  • Natural Gas or Propane
  • Stainless Steel Cooking and holding surfaces
  • Aluminum Cast Components
  • Foldable Side Shelves
  • 45k to 102k BTU Output
  • 60 min. Gas Grill Shut-off Timers

Additional Features Include:

  • Infrared Rotisserie Burner
  • Side Shelves
  • Storage Drawers & Compartments
  • Side Burners (for sautéing and boiling water)

Of course, the most important distinguishing feature of the Legacy Series is their superior size. If you have the room to accommodate these truly impressive grills, then you’re sure to impress. Usually, they are best for private, residential use because of their size. But they can still be well suited for especially large communal areas in commercial properties, apartments and the like.

If you are determined to install a Legacy Series Grill, some renovation may be necessary. But we assure you, you will not regret installing one of these awe-inspiring grills.

Propane and Natural Gas Grills Can Be Built-In

Both natural gas and propane grills can be built-in to your outdoor countertops or used with grill carts, and both are clean-burning fuels with negligible carbon emissions. With propane grills, there must be a storage area for the fuel tank, which is usually conveniently found underneath the grill. Natural gas grills just need to be tied directly to your properties NG line, because of this they have to be permanently set in place, whether installed on a countertop of grill cart. Propane grills mounted on a grill cart can have wheels added to make them semi-portable, since their fuel tank is stored with the grill.
